I have a 7 yr old son who has had several academic struggles in reading. In my most recent reading with Katie, she informed me that he struggled because he has Dyslexia. She explained the information she was getting, and what I was hearing was an "Ah-Ha" moment for me and ABSOLUTE confirmation that I knew ALL along what was happening with him, but didn't know the name of it. After the reading I pursued the things I needed to and did what Katie said would benefit him. Six months later with consistent work from both my son and myself, his reading has gone from "Below Proficient" to "4% below benchmark." From his 1st trimester testing to his 2nd trimester testing he has increased his Word Fluency from 33 words per minute to 77 words per minute. My son more than DOUBLED his Fluency! His Overall Fluency Growth went from an 80% to a 92%. That is TREMENDOUS growth and I KNOW without Katie giving me that pertinent information, my son would still be struggling.
